MOVING THE OVERTON WINDOW
When we first began our work, most mainstream media outlets denied demographic collapse was a problem—it was far more common to read statements asserting that overpopulation was the world’s primary challenge.
Our advocacy work has successfully moved the Overton window around demographic collapse. While there remains wide variation on what people believe should be done to address demographic collapse, it is broadly acknowledged across the political spectrum that demographic collapse is a real and important problem.
We have managed to garner prolific media coverage through our signature media baiting approach, courting controversy and drawing criticism in a way that drives attention and clicks but ultimately gets people to seriously engage with the realities of falling fertility rates, demographic collapse, and fertility ratio cascades.
Demographic collapse is too catastrophic to ignore—as with climate change, it disproportionately affects society’s most vulnerable members.
TIME IS RUNNING OUT
Whether you are progressive or conservative, pronatalist or antinatalist, a fan of kids or enthusiastically child-free, you probably care about working roads, functioning police forces, stable currency, a growing economy, and working social services providing support to the elderly and most vulnerable members of society.
Demographic collapse puts all these societal benefits at risk. Public dialog about solutions is key—and the more different groups working to solve these problems, the better.
